From then on, Amber has continued to best northern and southern performers at local, regional and national competitions. In 1993, she was invited to perform at the annual Dreamspeakers Festival in Edmonton. She also sang on the same bill as Susan Aglukark in 1994 at the nationally renowned Folk on the Rocks Festival in Yellowknife, and was invited back in 1996, when Buffy Sainte Marie headlined the event. Amber was also selected as a finalist for the NWTs Aurora Award in 1996.

At the tender age of eighteen she could have been forgiven for taking a well deserved break after finishing her first year of studies at the University of Alberta, but spent her summer in Yellowknife tucked away in a recording studio instead of relaxing under the midnight sun. The end result, Extra Extra, was released in late 1996 and has been sent out nationally to booking agents, managers, record companies, retail audio visual recording outlets and country radio stations. Soon after, Amber was selected as a top ten finalist for the nationally telecast 1997 YTV Youth Achievement Awards.
