After taking in all the sights and sounds of the Canadian Country Music Week held in Calgary in 1996, she had planned to attend the event the following year in Hamilton.  All that changed though when she sent in her application to be a Showcase Artist at the 1997 Canadian Country Music Week, at the last minute, "just to see what would happen I applied but I never thought they’d ask me".  Amber was selected to be one of only 40 artists (out of 200 entries) to show off their chops in front of record industry executives, Amber can hardly afford not to go now.
